His story...

Joseph is the fourth born in his family. He is brother to Emmanuel and Jackie. His father abandoned the family and his mother could not afford to even provide food for her family. Joseph started coming to El-Shadai home to eat a meal when he was hungry. His father, even though he was not providing for them, refused to allow the children to visit the El-Shadai home and would beat his kids if he found out they did. Joseph persisted in visiting and Uncle Stephen negotiated with his school to allow him to continue despite the family not paying for the fees. At the end of 2005 Joseph came to live at the home. His father died of AIDS and left his mother with no means to support herself. El-Shadai home now financially supports his mother and she is receiving treatment for HIV/AIDS.

Interests and Hobbies...

Joseph loves to play football. He is a talented artist, and enjoys drawing and designing.

Future plans...

Joseph wants to become a mechanical engineer or artist.

Notes:

Joseph dropped out of school for three years during his troubled childhood. He was very depressed and worried about his future. His mental state is now improving as are his grades in school.

Child Financial Needs:

The Ugandan government does not offer free education at any level. Before coming to the home, many of the children had been forced to drop out of school because they were unable to pay the fees. El-Shadai Family Foster Home believes that all children should have an education and a safe, loving environment where all of their basic needs are met.

Current Sponsorship Status:

Joseph is currently sponsored for his day school fees
