Her story...

Her father rejected Joan; he claimed she was not his. Her mother then took her to her grandparents deep in the village of Kalungami. She was treated as a house girl and was made to do chores all of the time and she had to go long distances to attend school. Joan shares the same father with Peace, Frank, and Fred. Peace and Joan have the same mother who abandoned them to escape her abusive husband.

Interests and Hobbies...

She is gifted in music, dance and drama.

Future plans...

She wants to become a nurse in the future.

Notes:

She witnessed and experienced much domestic violence and rejection and is still undergoing counseling to recover from the trauma.

Child Financial Needs:

The Ugandan government does not offer free education at any level. Before coming to the home, many of the children had been forced to drop out of school because they were unable to pay the fees. El-Shadai Family Foster Home believes that all children should have an education and a safe, loving environment where all of their basic needs are met.
